Yes, there are many different types of plaster that have the same name today. Venetian plaster basically describes a lot of different types of polished plaster and decorative plaster. You will hear a lot of other terms used aside from Venetian and Stucco. Sometimes the plaster is simply called Venetian stucco plaster. Other examples include polished plaster and Marmorino. You also have Scagliola, which is designed to mimic the veiny look of marble. You also have Tadelakt, which is Moroccan-style lime plaster, which does not contain any ground marble.

One of the great things about going for this type of plaster is the fact that it is a lot easier to maintain when compared to the other options that are out there. This is because it is less prone to cracking and shrinking when compared with cement finishes. One thing you can do in order to help repel the dirt is to use a wax coating. It is highly advisable to ensure your Stucco plaster is re-waxed every few years. If you do need to clean the plaster, you should use a mild soap or water because harsh cleaning and bleach can cause damage to the surface, and so this needs to be avoided.

Yes, Venetian plaster does not release any of the dangerous volatile organic compounds (VOCs) like sealers, glues, and acrylic paints do. This is because it is a material that is fully natural. Lime is typically added to this plaster to give it a high pH level. Lime is a natural fungicide, which means mould will not be harboured.

You may be wondering about the different applications that are suitable for Stucco plaster. Stucco plaster can be used on ceilings and walls, including curved surfaces, for example, columns and archways. It also works really well when it comes to feature walls and fireplace surrounds too. The finish adheres most effectively to porous substrate, which means it can be installed properly over prepared plasterboard, as well as concrete blocks, concrete, cement board, and brick.

When Marble plaster dries down, it has a very durable and hard finish. When it is applied to exterior walls, it has a look that is very much like concrete render. However, it has more of a tactile and cool feel with a greater nuanced depth of character. It is the perfect choice in terms of practicality too. This is because it has a unique breathability to it, which means that after there has been humid or dry weather moisture does not get trapped behind the surface because the plaster dries quickly. This can help to preserve the structural integrity of your home or office. Therefore, Stucco is not just about enhancing the beauty of your property; it also has a lot of other benefits to offer, which is important to keep in mind.
